Meeting Minutes

September 24, 2008

meeting started: hip hip hurray!

Treasurer's Report: All's good and well in the treasury. At least someone's solvent in this Country.

Happy Hours: October 10, 6:30 Mary's house for our FOURTH annual Chili Cook-off. Enter your recipe and win fabulous prizes and unending bragging rights. Or bring some bread to soak up the heat and juices. Bring your own beverages, too.

FACEBOOK.com: Due to website limits on space and privacy, we have been posting club photos, invites, and fun stuff on FACEBOOK. Some people are not very familiar with how it works, so we are going to attempt to have a tutorial at the next meeting. Gwen will bring a laptop and hope we can get a WiFi signal.

Phlocking and Phrolicking: It's this weekend. We hope to see everyone there. The weather may actually be nice.

Party 2009: Just to make it official, we are going to scrap our own party and check into combining efforts with another club. Gwen will email the committee list to Rick. Committee can decide how to proceed with contacting other clubs.

Highway Clean-up: Despite the balmy day, we had a small group. Luckily, our favorite parakeet was there- Ryan. Best Find: $20. Dirty but the bartender took it. No gross stuff at all. Weird.

Heart Walk: October 18th at Warner Park. One of our new members, Cheri L., is walking this year.

NEXT MEETING:

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

7:30 p.m.

Bar Next Door

August 27, 2008

meeting started: in a blur

Treasurer's Report: We still have money and NO outstanding bills!

Blood Drive: Currently having a fall kickoff event. If you haven't given lately, check it out. They continually update the travel zones and the time from travel is only 6 months now. Remember, we're group 16.

Food Bank: It was suggested we donate quarterly or twice a year instead of at each meeting. That way people can write checks and it would be easier for tax donation purposes. Also, it would be less work to take money in monthly. A decision was not made on this.

Happy Hour: final toast to summer at Nautigal's, Sept 12 6:30.

Phlocking to the Woods: Discussion about location. We chose Brigham and it got booked, so it's Lake Farm again. We discussed the need to add "phrolicking" to the name also. Done. Rick is seriously jonesing for some naked volleyball. Let's hope for no mosquitos! Rainout location will be Hedonism in Negril. See calendar for details.

Highway Clean-up: Sept. 20th, 10:00, at Morgan's as usual. However, Rick is jonesing for naked volleyball so much that he suggested we warm up by doing highway clean-up in the nude. Well, let's wear gloves...

Next Meeting: Sept. 24, 7:27, BND

July 30, 2008

meeting started: Star date 823707507 a.d.#2

Treasurer's Report: We have money. Some of it is being spent on concert expenses, such as the bus tip.

Concert: The general feeling was it was a great concert. We certainly missed some of our regulars, though! Thanks again to Dennis and Abby for the free beer! See facebook for some pre-concert photos.

Blood Donations: There is a huge need in summer months for blood donations. This year the banks are especially low due to the widespread flooding (not as many people able to get in and donate.) You can call the red cross to see if your travel destination is on their black-out list. Also, the time after travel in black-out areas is only 6 months now. We're #16.

Happy Hour: August 8th at Christy's Landing, 6:30. (note: this is a week earlier than usual because we want to spend one last night with Craig and Michelle before they head off to Puerto Rico this month.)

Discussion of Beer

Party 2009 Committee: Committee members are: Nancy Reinhardt, Donna Jordan, Kelly Zagrodnik, Matt Blasinski, Mary Frahm, Rick Werre, Linda Johnson, and Steve Freitag. Perhaps someone could volunteer to be the Chair?

Toasts: Happy Birthday, Mary!; "A mighty fine concert", "Summer is finally here."

Other Business:

NO great finds at Highway Clean-up! What's happening to the world?

Please wish team Jamaica MStaica well this weekend on our bike trip. And give us money! :o)

Lost at Concert: Green Bay hat, bag of beads

RSVP list was sent around the group for Christmas in July. If you were not at the meeting, please RSVP to Roger and Michelle. Thanks.

June 25, 2008

meeting started: if that's the word you want to use

Treasurer's Report: nothing new, just money, money, money

Toasts To: Mike and Joe ("that was a good toast"), concert is almost here, and "The weather is here, I wish you were beautiful"

DUES: Please fill out a membership form if you didn't when you paid your dues. We are trying to update the mailing/phone lists

Donate Blood! (#16)

Stake in the Lakes Recap: Everyone did a great job! Steve and Linda checked out the beach from the water and it looks great from that side too.

I Shot Six Holes 2009 Party Committee Recap: It was decided by a combination of committee and board to evaluate the options presented by other clubs to combine our efforts and potentially hold a joint fundraiser or a joint membership party with one and/or several area clubs. This will be further explored after a certain concert is over.

A Certain Concert: There are some bus seats available due to a few cancelations. Question: how big can the shark fin be? Jon M. has a lawn seat available.

T-shirts: should be ready by the end of the week. Then they need to be logoed; not sure how long that takes.

Upcoming events: see the front page.

Next Meeting:

Highway Clean-up at Morgan's

July 30, 6:30

May 28, 2008

meeting started: 7:31:42 p.m. cst

Toast to Mike and Joe (we always do this but I thought we should add it to the minutes once in a while.)

Treasurer's Report: Lots of money coming and going. "Nice bunch of people" I don't know what that means, that is just what the notes say.

DUES are DUE! Capiche? The President and the Treasurer have not paid yet. Tsk tsk. Anyone else who does not want to be publicly shamed should be paying NOW.

Blood Drive (group #16) Julie is getting her hair done tonight, but we think the blood drive is going well this year. Don't forget to donate.

Second Harvest Food Bank sent us a very nice thank you letter for our donation.

Toast to "No more Frost"

Happy Hour Friday, June 6th, at Bourbon Street Grill, 6:00. (Yes, that is 666 for anyone who was paying attention. But come anyway.)

Stake in the Lakes June 21st, 10:00 a.m., Goodland Park beach. Please bring rakes, shovels, pitchforks, gloves, and a smile! Plan on a sunny afternoon at Christie's after we are finished.

Concert Of course, you've already paid for your tickets and seats. There are a few bus seats that have opened up. Let Rick know if you need a seat. Mary is hosting her annual pre-party 7-18. Details at the June meeting.

Toast to "having it in hand."

Club T-shirts and Tanks are in the works. More details in June.

2009 ISSHIMF Party A sign-up sheet was passed around for the party committee. The first committee meeting will be at 6:30, June 25th at BND (before the general meeting.) Board Members on the Party Committee will be excused from the Board Meeting.

Next Meeting:

June 25th, 2008

7:30 p.m.

BND

April 30, 2008

meeting started: yes

Treasure's Report: we are doing fine. Dues and bus/ticket money due soon.

Highway Clean-up Find of the Day: Linda J. found $50 cash. No kidding. It included a note that said, "I have gained this money illegally and wish to have it go to a better cause than my previous night of drinking." Unfortunately, the signature on the note was completely illegible so we could not confirm the donor's wishes. Linda generously offered to donate it to the Second Harvest Food Pantry, which we did.

Happy Hour: Springer's, May 9th, 6:30 (they've gone smoke-free voluntarily so we thought we'd give them some support.)

Concert Update: The weather is looking really nice for concert day. The bus is full. If you are on the waiting list, don't give up all hope; if someone doesn't pay on time, you can have their seat. Club tickets: final ticket decisions will be made the first week of May. If you get club tickets, your money is due May 23rd. Tickets and bus $161 each; bus only $25 for members, $40 for non-members, which includes 2008 membership.

Club T-shirts and Logo. We've talked for several years about making club T-shirts again. We love our logo but it has some printing issues. There was much discussion about whether we can resolve the printing issues (has to do with size and multiple colors) or if we should have a Logo contest. Michael and Dennis and some others discussed various digital copies of our logos. If you love computer graphics discussions, you should have been there. For the rest of us, we'll have to see what they come up with. Dennis is also looking into Landshark T-shirts that we could add on our logo.

May Birthdays: Lynn has an annual May celebration. This year it is May 16th at Bourbon St. Grill starting at 5:30. You don't have to have a May birthday to come help them celebrate!

Next Meeting:

May 28, 2008 7:30

BND

March 26th, 2008

meeting started: not really an obvious transition, so I'm not sure.

Treasurer's Report We still have money, but will need people to pay dues and pay for concert tickets on time. Dues are due 6-3-08, so please bring them to the May membership meeting (5-28-08.)

Blood Donations Please don't forget to donate.

Landshark Lager Rollout Party is 4-3-08. Woohoo.

Happy Hour will be at the Tilted Kilt on 4-11-08 at 6:30.

Highway Clean-up April 26th at 10:00 at Morgans. Rain date is 5-3-08, same time and location.

Toasts to Mike and Joe, Rick's funky finger (don't ask me), and Donna (from Nancy) for coming to so many meetings without Nancy.

The Year of Still Here No one believes that is an ominous title. It will occur on 7-19-08. If you don't know what it is you shouldn't be reading this. If you do, you should also be aware that your bus and ticket requests should already be in. It was motioned and approved to charge club members $25 to ride the bus and charge non-members $40, which will include a free membership for the year. If you have any interest at all in tickets you should let Rick know. We often get some extra tickets at the last minute.

February 27th, 2008

Blood Drive: Going strong. Remember to sign the group book to give us credit. We are group #16.

LANDSHARK Roll-out Party: Dennis introduced Abby Rossi, from the Landshark distributor. Abby gave us details on the party, which is invite only. Here's the lowdown:

Kahunaville at the Kalahari Resort

Free Landshark Lager, Hors d'oeuvres

music by The Boat Drunks

To attend, you need to do two things:

RSVP to Abby at 834-2337 x 7777 by March 28th,

AND

Reserve a hotel room at the Kalahari, 877-525-2427 by March 11th

the block of rooms are $79 each

Dennis will bring membership applications to the party.

ISSHIMF Feedback: General discussion about location, time of year, DJ vs. band, and how to keep expenses down. There were a few suggestions to move it back to pool party at a hotel for a better atmosphere. Also a hotel forces people to preregister and they are more likely to come if the weather isn't good. Some suggestions were the water parks in Barneveld or Chula Vista. The objective is to have a winter getaway. It's a cabin fever party, so we don't want to get too far away from winter. We need to decide if we want it to be a club event or a public event. Possibility of combining live music and DJ- someone suggested Tommy do most of the show and we ask Chuck B or someone similar to do an hour or so of live music. Everyone agreed, despite not making any money we need to give some to our charities. A motion was made and seconded to give each $500 out of general funds. We will form a party committee in April to start fleshing out the details.

Margarita the Manatee: Another motion was made to still donate to our adopted Manatee, but hold off until later in the year.

Concert: Isn't this what we've all been waiting for?? The date is July 19th. The bus has already been reserved (thank you, Michelle!) The number of club tickets is about the same as last year. Tickets will go to most active members in 2007. If you buy your own, they go on sale THIS Monday, March 3rd at 10:00. Landshark is donating some cases to the bus group (thank you again, Abby and Dennis.) Money will be due soon. Tickets are $136 and we are estimating the bus will be $25.
