Milwaukee Area Parrot Head Association Holiday Luau - 12/3!
MAPA is having their annual Holiday Luau and Toys for Tots party on 12/8 at Olympia Resort in Oconomowoc!
Doors open at 5PM, music starts at 6, and there will be a dinner buffet from 6-7:30.

Please bring an unwrapped, NEW children’s toy so a needy child in our area will have a better Christmas! Members of Fox Company Marines will be on hand to collect the toys (and pose for pictures!)

Chili Cook-off, Highway Cleanup and Down Syndrome Walk this Weekend
It's a busy weekend for the Club this weekend!
On Friday (10/12) night we've got the Chili Cook-off at Cary and Brenda's, get your chili cooking and ready for Friday night at 7! Click here for more details.
On Saturday (10/13) morning it's the fall highway cleanup:
Meet at 10AM at Morgan's in Pine Bluff, 8640 W Mineral Point Rd, corner of Mineral Point (Cty S) and County P. We'll grab a quick lunch at Morgan's after we clean.
Mary will have the vests and bags. Bring work gloves, long pants and boots are recommended because it can be muddy along the road.
And Saturday (10/13) afternoon at 1:30, it the 11th Annual Step Up Walk for Down Syndrome Benefiting the Madison Area Down Syndrome Society at Monona Terrace (Exhibition Hall B):
Short walk up and around the Capitol and back from Monona Terrace, Live Music by The Pool Boys! There's a silent auction, obstacle course, face painting, and much more!

Michael Hannes Obituary, Visitation and Funeral Information
There will be a visitation for Michael from 1-3 at Cress Funeral Home (3610 Speedway Road), followed by a funeral service. Following the service, we will be gathering at Pitcher's Pub (323 W Beltline Highway (Frontage Rd)) to share memories and fellowship.
Michael's Obituary:
MADISON - Michael Scott Hannes, age 46, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012.
He was born on June 21, 1966, in Madison, to Louis and Jeanne Hannes. He graduated from Brookfield East High School. He earned a degree in Forestry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was a member of the Acacia Fraternity. On June 11, 1994, he married his soul mate, Gwen Schmidt. The love of their lives, son Henry, was born on Dec. 24, 2008. Michael loved being a father and shared his zest for life with his son. There are many experiences he still wanted to share with Henry.
Michael's passions were plenty. He enjoyed bicycling, traveling, camping and was an avid Packers and Badgers fan. Over the years, he raised thousands of dollars for MS by selling Mardi Gras beads and participating in the Best Damn Bike tour, riding his bike hundreds of miles. Michael was a regular blood donor and "Santa" to some of our community's poorest children. His generosity for many causes will not be forgotten. He was also a member of the Parrot Head Club in Madison. Michael loved nature and trees. He worked for the last 15 years as an arborist for the City of Madison. Michael also spent several years doing prairie restorations in southern Wisconsin.
Michael is survived by wife, Gwen; son, Henry; mother, Jeanne Hannes; brothers and sisters-in-law David, Staci and their daughter, Annabelle and Thomas and Cathy; and Aunt, Nancy and Uncle, Will Roe and their children, Rob and Patricia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
The family would like to thank the kind and excellent treatment from everyone at Carbone and B6-6.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at 3 p.m. at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, with a visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service

Highway Cleanup and Monthly Meeting -- Wednesday, July 25th at 6:30PM at Morgan's
Our next monthly meeting, and the summer highway cleanup is at 6:30PM at Morgan's in Pine Bluff, 8640 W Mineral Point Rd, corner of Mineral Point (Cty S) and County P. We'll meet in the parking lot at 6:30, clean up the highway and follow with a short meeting at the bar. Arrive early for a drink before we clean!
In the event of rain, we will still clean. If there is lightning, we'll meet and reschedule cleaning.

Pirate Pub Plunder -- Saturday, July 28th starting 5:30 at The Bayou
Once again, we be setting sail in ye pubs of downtown Madison to find the finest grog! We'll be collecting 10 dubloons (which is exactly equal to $10 US) for the charity (The Henry Vilas Zoo). The ink on our treasure map isn't yet dry, but we're thinking of sailing to:
- 5:30 - The Bayou
- 7:30 - Arrrrrrgus (er, Argus)
- 9:00 - Brocach
- 10:30 - Genna's
- 11:30 - Tiki Shack
There be drink specials and fun goings-on at all ports-of-call!
In case you don't want to cab back afterwards, Jackie has arranged special rates for The Edgewater, which is just up the street from the Tiki Shack.
Aquapalooza - Sunday, July 29th
Join the floating party just off-shore North of the beach on Picnic Point (about half-way up the point). Music from Midlife Crisis and antics in the water.
If you're coming by boat, get there early, as the front line fills up fast! Roger and the Ertels will be leaving by 9AM (probably closer to 8:30). Look for Roger's red "Budweiser II" (complete with cocktail table with Budweiser umbrella) parked next to Mark and Susan's "Little Miss Magic" in position around 9:30. If you don't have a boat, there is plenty of parking at the Picnic Point parking lots, and you can wade out to the boats.
Bring drinks, snacks and something to float with, although the water is not deep (especially if we don't get any rain)!

Parrothead Beach Party at Middleton Cheeseburger in Paradise Friday Night!
Clear your calendars and dust off your coconut bras - Cheeseburger in Paradise in Middleton is having a beach party on June 29th at 8:30pm! There will be live music from Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band. In case you're not familiar with them - they're really fun and high energy. There will also be drink specials, giveaways (including a landshark surfboard), prizes, and Landshark Girls. Make sure to wear a Hawaiian Shirt and you'll receive a free appetizer on your next visit. 2012 I Shot Six Holes in My Freezer!
The Loyal Order of the Caribbean Soul is pleased to announce the...
- Rooms (regardless of size) are $85
- There are a number of rooms right along the pool, so we'll be able to use those as hospitality rooms for the party (food, drinks, auction, etc). We'll also have the rooms on the first floor in the corridor closest to the pool area
- but make sure to reserve your room by January 28th so you're in that block!
- There's no bar or restaurant at the hotel, so we'll bring our own food and drinks! NO GLASSWARE BY THE POOL!
- There is, however, continental breakfast provided.
- There will be plenty of tropical music to get you in the mood (for what, well, that's up to you).
- There will be games and raffles and tom-foolery in and around the pool!
- And best of all, the pool area is open 24 hours, so the party won't have to stop!
- Checkin is 3pm and checkout is 11am.
Make a reservation early to ensure a spot, and our block closest to the pool releases January 28th.
