In case you don't know how the six holes got in the freezer...

 

-Price: FREE!  (BYO!)

- King or Two Queen rooms are $50 with "Madison Parrot Head Club" before January 7th  (Pets allowed, for $20)

- The hotel is relatively small, so it may fill up!
- We will have the party room by the pool for food
- There's no bar or restaurant at the hotel, so we'll pot-luck (bring a dish to pass) and bring our own food and drinks!

- Bring a donation for the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin - See their Wish List: http://www.petsgohome.org/donate/wish-list/

NO GLASSWARE BY THE POOL!
- There will be tropical music from 5-10 with Peter Kish, and recorded music after that to get you in the mood (for what, well, that's up to you).

- There will be games and tom-foolery in and around the pool, but we're mostly there to relax and socialize.
- Due to a change in state law, the pool (and attached party room) must close at 10.

- Stock up on small bills!  We'll have jello shots, suck and blows, and shotskis available!  We'll also be taking pictures in the freezer to help you keep tabs on the happenings!
- Checkin is 3pm and checkout is 11am.
- Party starts at 4, but we'll be partying as soon as we're there!

The Annual LOCS Holiday Party is coming up at 6:30PM on December 9th in the Grotto at Angelo's in Monona (5801 Monona Dr).

Beginning now and through the November meeting, it's Board Election Season for positions starting in 2016!  Nominate yourself or someone else via email or at the October meeting for:

• President (Elect) - The President shall be the Chief Executive Officer and liaison with PHiP, other local groups and any other organization with which the club wishes to communicate, shall chair all meetings and shall appoint all appointed officers and committee chairs as deemed necessary with approval of a majority vote of those in attendance at a stated meeting.  (The president serves an additional two years as President Elect the year before he or she takes position of President and as Past President the year following his or her two years as President.)
• Treasurer - The Treasurer shall assume responsibility for the financial matters of the club and have the books available for examination by the Board of Directors upon request. A Treasurer’s report shall be given at stated meetings.
• Communications Director - The Communications Director is responsible for maintaining the club’s website, social networking sites and email lists, editing “The Squawker,” documenting club events photographically, collecting club photographs, and maintaining club photographs in scrap books and/or online, The Communications Director is also responsible for acting as historian for the club and maintaining records as appropriate. The Communications Director is chair of the Communications Committee.

Chili Cook-off Friday (10/9) and Highway Cleanup Saturday (10/10)!

Right on the heels of the Chili Cook-off on Friday October 9th (click for more information), Saturday (10/10) is the Fall Highway Clean-up!

On Saturday, 10/10, meet at 10:30AM at Morgan's in Pine Bluff, 8640 W Mineral Point Rd, corner of Mineral Point (Cty S) and County P.  Arrive early for a drink before we clean!

There is much construction on the beltline and still some Mineral Point Rd, be sure to leave early!

In the event of rain, we will still clean. If there is lightning, we'll reschedule cleaning to Sunday 10/11.

Bring work gloves, long pants and boots are recommended because it can be muddy along the road.  You never know, you might find the lost shaker of salt and get a prize!

September Happy Hour - BYO at Baxter Park!

This month's Happy Hour is coming up on Friday September 11th!  We'll be meeting for a pot-luck near Michael's tree in Baxter Park (777 Englehart Dr, Madison), the tree is on the West end of the park, near the intersection of Englehart Dr and Ward Ct.  Bring your own food and drink (and chair), and little extra to share!

We'll be meeting around 5:30, if we can get off out of work early (don't worry if you can't come until a bit later)!

Pre-Buffett Party at Mary's 8/21

It's Buffett Concert time again, so it's time for the annual pre-party at Mary's house the night before (8/21)!

Enchiladas and Margaritas are provided, bring an appetizer/desert to pass, and beverages you desire and gather around the campfire in Mary's yard to relax before the show!  Email locs-buffett@gmail.com if you need the address or directions!

The party will swing in to action around 6:30PM and go until it's over!  (Bearing in mind most people have to get up for the show on Saturday..)

2015 Alpine Bus Information

THE BUS LOADS AT 10:00 A.M. AT THE SHOPKO, MONONA (SOUTH TOWN) PARKING LOT, AT 10:00 AM.  AT 10:00 A.M. WE WILL PACK OUR THINGS UNDER THE BUS AND PICK OUR SEATS, AT 10:00 A.M.  SATURDAY, 8/22, 10AM, SHOPKO PARKING LOT.

 

Bring your food item to share (Jell-O shots and the like are considered food items) for the tail gating.  We furnish no beverages so bring your own.  Large coolers will go under the bus.  You may take a small one on the bus for the ~90 minute drive.

 

Bring substance food for yourselves for lunch, dinner and the way home.  Don’t expect to be fed off the snack tables.  Julie is not going this year so if anyone has a good Jerk Chicken recipe, feel free to bring it. (I really like Jerk Chicken).  We typically have way more snack things like chips and deserts then substance foods on the table, so if you feel inclined to bring more real food, please do… but keep it simple.  Finger food is best.  There will be paper plates and plastic forks… I believe.

 

There has been no plans made to do any cooking there, so don’t bring raw meet unless that’s what you intend to share.  Don’t bring a full watermelon and expect everyone to cut their own piece.

2015 Pirate Pub Plunder Coming up Friday (8/14)

Ahoy mateys! Again we be settin sail fer an adventure filled with rum, grog, scallywags, and treasure (okay, maybe only treasure in the sense of doubloons leaving yer pocket)! As with years past, we be chartin a course fer the evening, starting with assembling our crew at The Bayou New Orlean's Style Tavern at 6:00PM.

As always, we'll raise some money for our furry mateys, so be bringin $10 with ye (cash, check, doubloons accepted) for the Dane County Humane Society, and help us collect more treasure from landlubbers along the way!

From The Bayou,, we sail to Arrrrgus Bar and Grill at 8:00, Ye Rigby Pub at 9:15, Tipsy Cow at 10:30, and we'll end at Genna's Lounge around 11:45, because we can't drift far or in a straight line!

Take a Stake in the Lakes and Cottage Grove Fireman's Fest This Weekend

It's time for the annual Dane County Take a Stake in the Lakes!  We'll be meeting on Saturday, 6/20 at Goodland Park on Lake Waubesa (near Christy's Landing) at 10AM.

Bring gloves, rakes (heavy duty garden rakes are best) and shoes to get wet.

We will have t-shirts, water and maybe some drinks for the workers.  Cleanup usually takes about 1 1/2 hours or so, then we head to Christy's for lunch.

Spring Highway Cleanup 4/25, April Member Meeting 4/29

Our spring highway cleanup is coming up Saturday 4/25! We're meeting at 10:30AM in the parking lot at Morgan's in Pine Bluff, 8640 W Mineral Point Rd, corner of Mineral Point (Cty S) and County P.
We're hoping to hit the road at 10:30, so arrive a little early to get your bags and orange vest (and Bloody Mary from the bar)!  After we'll stick around for some lunch.

In the event of rain, we will still clean. If there is lightning, we will reschedule to the Sunday, 4/26.

There will be a social half-hour at 7:00, followed by the meeting at 7:30.

Parched Eagle is sill fighting with the feds and isn't sure if they'll be open in time for the April Happy hour, so we're pushing them off again them to May, and moving the May happy hour to April...

The party starts around 6:00!

Harmony Bar Jimmy Buffett Night - Sunday 2/22

Jimmy Buffett Night is returning to Harmony Bar (2201 Atwood Avenue in Madison) on National Margarita Day, Sunday 2/22 from 3-7 benefitting Rise Law Center!

Recommended donation of $10 gets a raffle ticket and entertainment from Chuck Bayuk and the Drunken Sailors!  Bring your check book to purchase extra raffle tickets and items in the silent auction!

I Shot Six Holes In My Freezer 2015 - This Weekend!

In case anybody doesn't know how the six holes got in the freezer..

Things to remember for Saturday (review the full info: http://www.locs-buffett.org/p/i-shot-six-holes-in-my-freezer-2015.html):

• Bring your own drinks and a dish to pass (no restaurant or bar at the hotel!)
• Bring donations for the Humane Society of Rock County (cash or items from their Wish List)
• Bring small bills for jello shots, suck-n-blows, shot-skis and other fun!  (Benefitting Humane Society.)
• The party officially starts with Peter playing at 4.  It unofficially starts whenever you get there!
• Bring a radio to tune in to Rick's transmitter for tunes before and after Peter is playing!
• There will be games and other tom-foolery around the pool.

As of right now the hotel has a few rooms available, it was sold out earlier, I know at least one member who may have an extra room, and they have a cancellation policy that lets you cancel up to noon on the day of arrival, so there will likely be last minute rooms on Friday night or Saturday!
